Hey everyone. I know I have been off the grid with my blog more often recently. I’m still studying and thinking through Romans 9 and Calvinism vs Arminian and trying to understand which position I take in my own words and not just copying someone else’s. So if you can, leave a comment with which one you believe I’m leaning towards and some links or a video of a good debate between Calvinism and Arminian. Also any preachers that you believe give a good case for either side. Thank you and have a great day.

Hi Mt. For me, it’s an unsolvable quandary. Arminians point to many Biblical proof texts that support free will and Calvinists do the same for predestination. Those who take a firm position on either side must discount/disregard contradictory passages. I currently have John R. Rice’s anti-Calvinism “Predestined For Hell?” in my books-to-be-read queue, but I already know I will be no more convinced of Arminianism than I was of Calvinism after recently reading “Free Will A Slave” by Charles Spurgeon.

That’s true. That’s why I’m trying to figure which side I land on more than the other. Trying to find where free will intersects with Gods sovereignty is something I’m trying to find out. I might end up just throw my hands up in the air at some point and copy and paste my notes a blog post for others to see and then continue posting like usual. Except start back in Romans 12. Thanks for pointing me to possibly read those books.

I am a Calvinist and I found Piper’s book on Romans 9 helpful though the name of it escapes me at this moment

Good question I think when I looked into it 10 years ago it was one of the few books by Piper that is not in PDF on its site and it must not be over 20 dollars…want me to send it to you as a gift?
