Paul here talks about how we need to be unified in our understanding of the truth. The truth is the Gospel in that, we were sinners and God came down in flesh and lived among us and then sacrificed himself on the cross for our sins.
I know that is very basic in our lives but we need to know how that applies to our lives. If we truly understand that basic concept then it will affect the way we treat each other, think of life and what we think of certain organizations and concepts.
The problem is, the world has too many lies that they like to tell us and new ideas. Each generation will have a new fashion or trend that is opposite of the word of God. At some point the trend was slavery and racism, then it was abortion, and now it’s homosexual marriage and transgenderism.
We all can agree the slavery and racism is wrong but there is a huge portion in our culture that says that abortion and homosexual marriage is a right and should be allowed as such. As we understand the basic concept of Jesus, we would allow the rest of the Bible to influence our thinking since Jesus himself wrote those words through his disciples.
If we allow the Bible to teach us and guide our thinking of life and our worldview, we know for a fact that these things are not what God intended and can be very dangerous for the people involved in them.
We were made and thought of before we were ever born and God had a plan for us( Psalms 139: 13-16) Science also says that babies experience pain while in the womb and have their own set of dna different than the mother. So they’re alive and need to be protected from being murdered as such.
Homosexual marriage is wrong because homosexuality is wrong. This is not saying that we need to be rude or evil towards people that are homosexual but rather warn them of them being outside of Gods plan(1 Timothy 1:8-11). Also according to science and statistics there are also side effects of these dangerous practice.
Also the Bible says that God created us as male and female. We should understand our roles as men and women. God is not a God of confusion and so he would never make us to where we would be confused. Being confused only comes from Satan and the mistakes of men.
We could do an entire series on transgenderism but we will stick to just one paragraph for now.
What I’m getting at is this; that if we don’t apply the word of God to our lives, we will be controlled by any new and popular idea of the time. Just like you would be thrown around like a rag doll if you were in the middle of hurricane.
