Do you feel left out?

Have you ever been in a group of your friends and peers and felt left out? Not the kind of left out like when they ignore you or don’t invite you to hangout. They actually probably invite you all the time to things that they do with their friends. I’m talking about being left out in that you don’t fit in with that circle of friends.

We’ve all experienced it at different times with different friends. There are multiple reasons why this could be. It could be becauseyou have a different taste in music, art or movies but y’all are friends because all of you are nice and want to have friends. Sometimes it could be because you are honestly in the wrong group completely, where your friends are breaking the law or doing other terrible things and you stand out because you don’t go along with them.

Then there is group of friends that you don’t fit in with because your world-views are different. You see the world from a different set of eyes therefore have different values. You may have a lot of things in common with them in your hobbies and such but when it comes to life decisions, you and the group are polar opposites. One huge reason this may be the case is because you are saved through Jesus Christ and they’re not and the Bible talks about this very thing.

“Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who comes from God, so that we may understand what has been freely given to us by God. We also speak these things, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people. But the unbeliever does not welcome what comes from God’s Spirit, because it is foolishness to him; he is not able to understand it since it is evaluated spiritually.”1 Corinthians 2:12-14

Hcsb Bible

The Holy Spirit is the third part of the trinity. The Father God, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. It is through the Holy Spirit that we learn everything that we come to know about God. He came down to us when we could not come up to him because of our sinful condition. It is when the Holy Spirit convicts us that we then accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

It is because of the Holy Spirit that we are able to understand the deep truths of God. That we are sinners in need of a Savior, Gods purpose and plan for marriage, our eternal destinies and so much more. We will stay on the ‘in need of a savior’ part for now.

When people that are not Christians find out you are one, depending on the circumstances they will treat you with respect or joke with or outright persecute you. They will start asking you questions about your faith because they genuinely don’t know or they will make jokes about you by asking questions that you know are traps for them to laugh at you.

They will laugh or question you for thinking that you need God to come down for you because they’ve been taught that if they’re good enough, then they’ll get into heaven. They’ll laugh or question you when you wait until marriage for sex because you value the sanctity of the marriage. They will do the same against you if you happen to get a girl pregnant or you get pregnant and you don’t get an abortion because you value the sanctity of life. The same for multiple other issues.

You might ask yourself why they keep asking the same questions in either serious genuine ways or laughing. It’s not because they’re dumb and sometimes it’s not because they’re trying to be mean ( though sometimes they are). It’s because they have not had or won’t accept the Holy Spirit to convict and teach them through the Bible.

It all comes back to if they’ve accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior or not. If not, then they will never have the Holy Spirit living within them and therefore will never truly understand why you do what you do. They may memorize everything you say and be intellectually honest with it but never understand the relationship that you have with God.

So at the end of the day, maybe that is why you don’t fit in specifically with your group. If that is the case, make sure you have a good group of Christian friends so you have friends that have your spiritual walk in mind and can understand it.

As you find that Christian group, keep some of your other group so that you can continue to grow mostly with your Christian friends but still be a witness to your non believing friends.

Be patient of course, because you didn’t understand the way to Salvation before the Holy Spirit came to you, so don’t expect your old friends to catch on immediately either. You might be the way that the Lord uses the Holy Spirit to get to your friends.

I hope you have a great day and if you have any questions or disagreements, just comment below or message me.

Just an average guy that loves Jesus, football and wanting to learn more about God everyday. I post my devotions and lessons on here to gather my thoughts together. So if I make a mistake, tell me and if you know places where I can learn more, tell me that too. I hope y’all have a great day.
