Do you have peace and confidence when you wrong a friend?

Have you ever upset someone and you knew that you would have to see them regularly? You could have upset your coworker, your parents, friends, boss or your spouse(that’s a tough one there). You knew you were in the wrong and you don’t know how they are going to respond the next time they see you?

If it’s a coworker or friend, they could give you the cold shoulder, start rumors about you or if they are really close to you, start telling secrets that you know are true about yourself. They could also verbally attack you or just sever any relationship with you from there on out.

If it’s your parents that you upset, then they could possibly ground you by taking privileges away, spanking you or whatever way to get across to give you discipline.

Then if it is your boss, then well this could be them firing you or punishing you in front of all your coworkers, or taking money away or rejecting a promotion. Not saying any of these are correct in every occasion but these things happen.

Then comes the worst possible person to upset, your spouse(wife in my case). It’s never a good day when you upset your spouse. They could make sure you sleep on the couch, give cold shoulder or divorce in the worst possible cases. But if you are at divorce, you probably should have tried to get help way before this point. In any case, upsetting the person you are living with can make your entire life really bad and difficult real quick and in a hurry.

So in each of those cases, you may or may not know exactly what the outcome would be when you saw them next. You were uncertain, not confident and in some cases scared. But there is one person that we can have assurance and confidence whenever we upset them. we see him in this passage.

“Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also obtained access through Him by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:1-2

Hcsb Bible

That person is God. We definitely upset him on daily if not hourly basis with our sins(mistakes against him and others). With everyone else we may not know how they will respond when we decide to come to them to apologize. We may not feel confident in our presentation showing that we are truly regretful for our sin against them. But we can know how God is going to respond. We can have confidence when coming to God.

Now this is not cockiness, because if we read the Bible, then we know our place on the pecking order and we are definitely not top dog compared to God. We come to his throne with humbleness and confidence and peace in our hearts as we can talk to him about our life, ask for forgiveness and just have a relationship with him.

Let’s stop here and ponder this for a minute. We have open communication and come straight up to him, the creator of the universe. The king of kings, our master, our savior, our light in the darkness that is our world(especially in 2020. Crazy year, right?), and the person that is perfect while we aren’t. There is no king on earth, no president or prime minister, dictator or any other ruler that you can just walk up to without an appointment of some sorts or the bodyguards stopping you. You know what this shows me?

It shows me that he is all powerful just in this instance that he can’t talk to everyone at the same time, he’s not constrained by time. He’s all powerful because honestly, he has nothing to fear or be cautious of. What would he be afraid of? We can’t do anything to him. That’s why we can’t just walk up to world leaders, because they are constrained by time, and have to be cautious because they aren’t invincible. We definitely know this from this year where one virus has shut down the entire world for a bit and killed plenty of people as we saw this week with the passing of John lewis and Hermain Cain.

It also shows that he truly loves us and is always there for us, even if we have wronged him. Unlike our coworkers, friends, parents, bosses or even our spouse, he is always there for us.

So you ask me how can I just talk to him? Well the passage says it all. We have faith in Jesus Christ and accept him as our Lord and Savior, and we talk to God through Jesus Christ. That is why when we pray, we pray in Jesus name. Because God sees us through his perfect sons righteousness. He doesn’t see our sin anymore.

So are you ready to have open communication with the creator of the universe? Are you ready to have a friend that you can have confidence and peace whenever you talk to them, even if you have screwed up and wronged them? Then acknowledge your sins and bring them to God and repent of them. Accept Jesus’ sacrifice and accept him as your Lord and Savior and you have this everlasting relationship.

Just an average guy that loves Jesus, football and wanting to learn more about God everyday. I post my devotions and lessons on here to gather my thoughts together. So if I make a mistake, tell me and if you know places where I can learn more, tell me that too. I hope y’all have a great day.
