Hey everyone. Who likes New Years resolution? I mean almost anyone I’ve talked to has said they have made one at one point or another. We usually choose good goals to achieve like weight loss, get more educated, get a new/better job.
Now you may be asking ‘why is this dude asking about New Years resolution in the beginning of August? Doesn’t he know that’s for January and February?’
That’s exactly the point of me bringing this up. At least in the spiritual sense.
“Therefore we were buried with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in a new way of life. For if we have been joined with Him in the likeness of His death, we will certainly also be in the likeness of His resurrection.”
Romans 6:4-5
Hcsb Bible

Just like everyone chooses a resolution to go for and they’re good the first 2 weeks or so, many so called Christians accept Christ say they repent from their sin and they try to be like Christ for a little while but quickly turn back to their old ways that they said they repented of. I’m not saying all of them aren’t saved, but just pointing out an observation.
According to this passage we shouldn’t be the same way as the gentiles(unbelievers). Just like Jesus resurrected into a perfect body, we should be living a different and better life.
People should be able to pick you out of a crowd. Not because of your cross necklace, the church shirt you are wearing or even some crazy conspiracy theories you have(some of them, not all). They should be able to find out something is different about you because of your language, your private life, public life, your habits. They should see the peace and confidence from God in you. They should see the way you show love to people you don’t like.
When they see you, they shouldn’t see you at all. They should see Gods love changing you over time.
So I ask you, have you changed for Christ? Have you stuck with your conviction of following Christ? Are you letting God change you?
Look back at your life since you became saved. Look for where the change is. If you can’t think of any changes, have you truly accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior or was he just another version of New Years resolution that you gave up in a month, maybe two.
If you don’t see change(especially if you were saved a long time ago), you need to change that. Repent again and decide today to make Jesus your Lord and Savior of your life. Make him the changing force of your life.
