Qualities to avoid in a friend. Part 4

Hello everyone. I hope y’all are having a great day as we approach the middle of the week. Some of us tonight, will be going to church with our friends, or just hanging out with them if we have plans with them. We all have plans and think about what we are going to do the rest of the week. It could be productive, destructive or just plain sitting at home watching tv or hanging with friends talking. Either way, we are always planning.

The problem is when our planning turns to evil schemes. Yes, I mean the big schemes like stealing and murder and adultery but I’m also talking about the small things that we plan on doing even though we know it’s wrong.

“The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to Him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil,” -Proverbs 6:16-18

Hcsb Bible

As Christians or as non Christians, we would never admit to planning out the murder of someone we know or the theft of a bank but sometimes we will still admit to scheming our evil plans in more subtle ways.

Some will actually brag about their evil schemes being accomplished. Some examples are when they brag about how many women or men they’ve slept with even though they know the sex is meant to be left alone until one is married. Another example is when one says that they lied to their parents in order to go to a party or hangout with friends when their parents told them that they couldn’t.

As long as there is a sin that you are thinking of doing, whatever it is, then you are scheming to do evil. Even if it’s considered a little white lie or that everyone is doing it, it’s still evil in the sight of Jesus and we need to run away from that.

If the Lord hates it in us then we should definitely avoid it in us and in our friends. If you have a friend that cuts corners to get a good grade and plans to cheat, lie, or have a sexual lifestyle that’s contrary to Gods word then they are planning out their evil and you need to either challenge them to change back to God or avoid them in your close personal life.

They’ll bring you down more than you’ll bring them up because they know evil and know how to accomplish their plans which don’t include Gods direction.

So at the end of the day, read Gods word and keep your mind on honorable things instead of evil desires and plans. Pray to God for his protection and guidance, and to also protect and guide your friends list as well. Plan and think on honorable and noble things of God and keep God word in your heart. If you memorize and keep Gods word in your heart and mind, then you won’t be able to sin as much since your mind will be on him and his will for your life alone.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please comment or message me and I’ll respond when I can. I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Just an average guy that loves Jesus, football and wanting to learn more about God everyday. I post my devotions and lessons on here to gather my thoughts together. So if I make a mistake, tell me and if you know places where I can learn more, tell me that too. I hope y’all have a great day.
