We all know someone that hates lies and wants to be the glue that keep people together. They hate arguments and untruths that pull people people apart. These are the kind of people we need to have as friends.
“The Lord hates six things; in fact, seven are detestable to Him: arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that plots wicked schemes, feet eager to run to evil, a lying witness who gives false testimony, and one who stirs up trouble among brothers.” Proverbs 6:16-19
Hcsb Bible

We’ve already went over lying once in this series but since it’s brought up again, we need to give special attention to it. The first one was speaking of lying in general but this time it speaks as if the person is lying under oath in a court of law. We’ve had plenty of cases in history where someone gives false testimony and it ends up helping to convict a person of a crime they didn’t commit.
Imagine that you’re a nice person just trying to help someone else and then later they accuse you of assaulting them or they pin you at the scene of a murder because they have a grudge against for either offending them or not doing what they wanted you to do. You were even 100 miles away at a party but they still put you at the scene of the crime. Then you get convicted and have to be in jail for the rest of your life or the death penalty.

You would be mad and you would be justified in your anger and some people think that people wouldn’t be this evil but they easily can be, just look at the crimes that have been committed throughout history.
The Lord is equally as angry and even more so because he hates when people bend or break the truth for he is the author of truth.
This example is terrible and should never be done but we have to look towards ourselves as well. Even though we don’t lie on the stand, we sometimes lie or struggle with gossip which can ruin a persons reputation. Even though in America it says ‘innocent until proven guilty’, many people automatically assume once an accusation has been leveled against someone, that they are guilty of all charges.
The same thing happens with friendships, relationships and life in general. People have lost their friends, relationships and jobs over accusations of gossip that they didn’t do and the Lord hates this.
This lying can also stir strife and argument between friends, family and churches and God haters this too. He wants the church to be united together in love so they can show the world Jesus. If they’re divided, the world has an excuse to poke holes in the church. If the church can’t be trusted to stick together on objective truth then they think their “truth” is just as valid.
So if you struggle with gossip, or being at the center of tensions and strife with fellow believers, then I say you need to get back in the word of God and be humbled to know that Jesus could have spoke and started so many stories since he already knew each and every story of the people around him to discredit them or make them follow him. But he didn’t
Of course if you are arguing over something that is Biblically true then be correct and try to bring your brother/sister back to the fold in a peaceful manner. If you are going to argue though, you better make sure that it’s definitely a biblically true statement or issue and not just your opinion, for each of us has an opinion but not all of us is right.
So at the end of the day, be truthful and honest and be a Uniter instead of liar and breaker of relationships. If you have any questions, comments or disagreements, please comment or message me and I’ll respond when I can. I hope you have a great day.
