We are accountable.

Hey everyone, I hope y’all are having a great day and ready for independence Day in the United States and your weekend in other nations. So I was talking with my coworkers over the past few weeks. Plenty of them have been upset about recent events.

Some have said that there needs to be reform of the entire justice system. Some point to the inconsistencies of the cases being judged between white and black people or other minorities. They will say there is systematic racism and we can debate on the severity of the issue, but let’s look towards a justice system that is pure.

“So, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, instinctively do what the law demands, they are a law to themselves even though they do not have the law. They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts. Their consciences confirm this. Their competing thoughts will either accuse or excuse them on the day when God judges what people have kept secret, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus.”

Romans 2:14-16

Hcsb Bible

So for every justice system in order to be good, we have to have a standard by which to judge ourselves. God has the truth and the standard by which to judge everyone. We see that in Romans 2:2. Also to be a good judge, they need to be compassionate and judge fairly. Depending on circumstances, the law and how much the situation dictated the violation of the law.

Well we see here that God does this. He has the truth and judges us by it. He also takes into account how much of the truth that we knew from our conscience and society. We see this in this passage. So despite the objection from many against God “what about the ones who have never heard the word of God?”, God is fair and will judge them according to what they know.

He will also know all the secrets that we keep to ourselves. He will know if you truly knew the word of God or not? He will know your motivations for why you did what you did. So at the end of the day, we are all accountable for what we do and what we know. We will be held accountable with everything that we know and have experienced at the end of times.

This means that some will be punished/separated from God, less than others depending on what they did or knew of their actions. The same concept is for when a child does something and isn’t punished as hard as someone that is fully grown and has had time to grow up and learn what to do and what not to do. An example, an 3 year old will not go to jail if they punch someone for no reason, but a 30 year old might because he knows what he did was wrong.

So at the end of time we are accountable. So take what you know and apply it to your life and don’t discard it and ignore it. Search for the word of God so that you can live closer to the standard by which we are held accountable.

I hope y’all have a great day and if I can help y’all in any way, just comment below.

Just an average guy that loves Jesus, football and wanting to learn more about God everyday. I post my devotions and lessons on here to gather my thoughts together. So if I make a mistake, tell me and if you know places where I can learn more, tell me that too. I hope y’all have a great day.
