With all of the chaos in the world, we understandably can start to ask the question “why is it this way?” The easy answer is sin and we can just leave it at that, but let’s go just a little deeper.

“For though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or show gratitude. Instead, their thinking became nonsense, and their senseless minds were darkened.”
Romans 1:21
Hcsb Bible
Even though the creation of the universe yells the glory of God, some will continue to deny the existence of God. Eventually it will come to a point where a majority are no longer influenced by even the Church’s presence. Not saying that they won’t know of Church, but rather our beliefs will no longer have any influence on them at all. They will hear it and won’t care out of spite and they will go down darker and darker paths.
After refusing to give glory where it is supposed to be given, they are no longer shown the light. They only see the darkness and think of it as good and right because it is all they know.
It says in the verse that their thinking became nonsense and their minds darkened. In some translations it says the heart is darkened and I believe that points to what we can identify in our culture as a focal point of the downfall of the Christian society and eventually the world in total.
I’m not saying that everything about the beginning of Disney is of the devil but I have actually called something “Disney theology”. This is when someone says to just “follow your heart”, or “do what makes you feel good”. Unfortunately this theology has creeped into many churches. It’s terrible because the Bible says that the heart is evil and who can know it(Jeremiah 17:9). The heart is controlled by our emotions and our emotions are fickle. They change at a moments notice.
The constant changing of our evil hearts causes more strife and heartache than anything I can think of. It even happened with my aunts death earlier this week. Her daughter got overly emotional and made some rash decisions that ticked off the entire family on both sides and a few insults were thrown from everyone involved unfortunately. If we had not let our emotions control us then we wouldn’t have gotten heated and fought with each other.
It ended up ending well and now everyone agrees on when and where the memorial will be. This is just one small instance of letting the emotions that we hold take control and influence us to do bad things.
But the problem is, public schools have pushed this very theology in the public and in secondary education. They have pushed us to know how to express our feelings more than to critically think. They point out that our feelings are more important than what the truth is. That’s how you darken a heart fast. You say that no matter what the facts are on any issue, if you are offended then you are in the right.
This has actually become the main talking point of a certain political party and unfortunately some churches. Then they bring up instances of people in sinful lives and portray them a great light and then they try to pull at our heart strings to accommodate and even encourage their sinful desires.
This is the reason why we see people bringing up crazy notions like saying that it’s ok to have grown men in little girls bathrooms because of their “feelings”, or that there are more than two sexes. This is the reason why we are confused by the world. They aren’t seeing the truth and Glorifying God for who he is, but rather glorifying their feelings.
When you disagree because of what you KNOW from the word of God, they then label you as a bigot or some other insult. What you feel is King and not what is truth.
So this is how the world is going down a dark path. They’re choosing their feelings over truth. That’s why we can’t have civil discussions without getting into a shouting match.
So understand this as a Christian, God foretold this and we should not be surprised, but rather continue to hold onto the truth no matter what.
Look towards God in times of heartache and trials and confusion. Feel what your emotions are telling you and bring them to God obviously. But keep the truth foremost in the front. Keep God in the center of your life.
If you have any questions or disagreements, just comment below or message me and I’ll respond when I can. I hope you keep the truth in front and live the Christian life like we are called.
Romans 1including Romans 1:21 definitely helps us to interpret our time

We are seeing it before our very eyes. I’ve unfortunately even seen it in some of my friends that I went to church with before I went to college.
