Hey everyone, this year is a year of tragedy, confusion and being honest unfair in a lot of ways. It reminds me of when we were kids and something would happen and we would complain ‘it’s not fair’. Guess what our parents then told us. They said the world isn’t fair son/daughter.
It was a realization that honestly hit a lot of us right between the eyes. Even though we may have accepted it intellectually, I don’t truly believe all of us accepted it completely in our lives and we see this in reality amongst us and in the passage below.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to futility —not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it —in the hope that the creation itself will also be set free from the bondage of corruption into the glorious freedom of God’s children. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now. And not only that, but we ourselves who have the Spirit as the firstfruits —we also groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for adoption, the redemption of our bodies.”
Romans 8:18-23
Hcsb Bible.

From a very young age, we see injustices (perceived and real) and we say it’s not fair and try to fix it the best way we know how. Though we know that the world will never be perfect until God comes back, we as believers and unbelievers try to change the world to better fix the injustice we see in our worldview.
You see this with the protests that turned into riots after George Floyd, protests and rallies after roe vs wade passed all those years ago. We are now seeing it with the trend of rallying against pedophiles and the evil things they are for. For once, I haven’t seen any real pushback from either side because we are all against pedophiles. At least in my region of the United States.
The passage pointed out that we are yearning for the time when we will not be burdened down by the corruption of sin. This sin that has corrupted the world causes the injustices that we experience and are rallying against as well as the degrading of our bodies each and every day. We see the cancer and the COVID-19 attack our bodies and the other viruses that have killed us since the dawn of time.
So why do we yearn for something that we ourselves have never experienced? Isn’t ignorance bliss? Shouldn’t we be used to this earth by now? Why do we rally against injustices in our time of life when we see it everyday? It’s because we weren’t made for this world. We weren’t made for this sin soaked world, but rather the peaceful and sinless garden of eden and paradise that we will eventually leave for(if we are believers in Jesus Christ).
So while we continue to rally against injustices, let’s choose a standard by which to judge the injustices and not just use our own made up opinion. Let’s choose the Bible by which we judge the very things we rally against instead of a trend that comes and goes like so many things in this world. Let’s choose a perfect standard by which to use to judge our lives and the lives of others.
Let’s also not just stop at rallies and protests. Let’s actually put our money where our mouths are and do what we can to improve the world and show the light of love of Jesus Christ. Let’s help at the orphanage, adopt that kid, stand up for the innocent in court or the wrongfully murdered. Let’s show up to the food lines and serve food to the homeless, teach the less fortunate in our communities at church and schools. Let’s bring the love of God to this sin soaked world and decide what we are really going to rally against in our everyday lives.
But while we do that, let’s not let the fight against injustices rule our lives. Let’s choose a life of contentment and peace as we choose to follow the one that will eventually welcome us into heaven with open arms. Let’s choose the life of following Jesus.
